UNESCO proclaimed 5th October to be World Teacher Day in 1994, WTD sets forth the rights and responsibilities of teachers as well as international standards for their initial predation and further education, recruitment, teaching and learning conditions.
World Teachers Day allows students, parents and the community to acknowledge teachers and say thank you for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities.
At Merton, WTD is celebrated by awarding/appreciating teachers for their hard work and dedication to the school.
