COVID-19 Back to School Plan
In light of the Government of Ghana’s decision to reopen schools, we are providing in-person learning opportunities for Merton Montessori pupils. We recognize the importance of in-person learning to a child’s emotional and psychological well-being and social development and we are glad to be able to provide this service to the Merton Family.
At the same time, we recognize that given the nature of the pandemic in-person learning poses challenges to our community. As such, we’ve detailed the various options that we seek to provide our Parents as well as the measures we’re taking to ensure the safety of all members of our community.
Learning options during the COVID-19 pandemic
- In-Person Learning: physical learning delivered by Merton teachers
- Virtual Learning Program: we provide teaching materials and content for Children to learn alongside a guardian at home.
What we are doing to protect our community
- We have installed several easy-to-use washing stations around our compound
- All individuals present on our compound are obligated to wear masks and have their temperatures checked
- We have created seating arrangements that allow us to observe social safety protocols
- We regularly disinfect our premise.

Health and Safety Guidelines
Students with any signs of illness should not attend school. These include, but are not limited to:
- A temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius or higher
- A cough, runny nose, sneezing and/or general malaise
- Students who are primary contacts of someone with COVID-19, or whose parents/family members (sharing the same house) are primary contacts, may not attend school.
- Parents should not send children to school if any member of the family has symptoms that could be COVID related.
- Following any illness, parents should not have their wards return until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours.
- Parents must report to the School if they notice any of the above symptoms in their wards, or if their child or any member of the household the child lives tests positive tfor COVID-19.
